Line Coaching & Vocal Presentation for Film & Stage

Because of Jan's extensive experience in the performing arts, she works with actors worldwide for guidance in proper performance techniques. Jan has a talent for digging deeply into the actor's thoughts and emotions to make the lines truly come alive.

Jan is here with well-known acting teacher Robert F. Lyons. They often refer students to one another.

  • For Film, Jan works with her students on proper American English pronunciation, phrasing, timing, and interpretation.
  • For Stage, Jan teaches you how to project, support, and protect your voice, letting your body do the work, not your throat.
Okay, you've worked your hardest! Still nervous the day of the shoot or before opening night?
For an additional fee, Jan will travel to the set on the day of the shoot or to the
dress rehearsal for the play for moral support and last-minute coaching.

Kaori Momoi

Jan has worked extensively with Kaori Momoi, who hails from Japan. Most recently, Jan helped Kaori with her English pronunciation in one of her latest films, Grüsse Aus Fukushima, which was a winner at the 66th Annual Berlin International Film Festival.
Picture Kaori Momoi played the role of the Mother in the internationally acclaimed film Memoirs of a Geisha.
With appearances in over 60 films, Momoi has won more acting awards for lead and supporting roles than any other Japanese actress.

"Actress Kaori Momoi has become something of a legend in the acting world in Japan. Best known to international audiences for her roles in Memoirs of a Geisha and Sukiyaki Western Django alongside Quentin Tarantino, Momoi's independent spirit, ambitious film choices and experience with just about every significant Japanese director of the last half-century means she commands respect." Kaori Momoi's performance, although brief, is heartbreaking in its raw empathic simplicity. It’s curious how two of the film’s supporting actors, both Japanese, happen to deliver arguably the two best performances of the movie.

Jan with Francieli Freduzeski
Franciely Freduzeski

Francieli Freduzeski

Jan with Francieli Freduzeski, actress and model hailing from Brazil, known for her roles in America (2005), Mascaras (2012), and Donas de Casa Desperadas
(Desperate Housewives of Rio de Janeiro). Fran has also starred in Brazilian Telenovelas (the equivalent of American soap operas).

In addition to their work on basic English skills, they prepare for auditions, improving the flow of Fran's English via line coaching and script reading, as well as guiding her through pronunciation, phrasing, and word and syllable emphasis.

Jan was instrumental in helping Fran obtain her SAG (Screen Actors' Guild) card. This accomplishment was due in large part to Jan's expertise in enunciation coaching and guidance in the delivery of the script, skills that are difficult for non-native English speakers to master.

Elena Nicorici

Jan helps aspiring Moldovan stage actress Elena Nicorici prepare for her leading role in the upcoming play Time Stands Still. Elena is fluent in American English, so they focus on line coaching, accent reduction, and proper breathing.

Elena says, "Jan, I want to share something with you.
I was reading a monologue out loud. First it wasn't that good. But then I prepared myself before speaking. I did the breathing exercises and then the vocalises you taught me. It helped me tremendously, because I felt the power in my voice."
